Our annual Charity Shield is back on Monday 8 May, and we're hoping this will be even bigger for 2023!
Our Charity Shield was renamed last year after our U14 Archers Coach, Steve Cooke, who sadly passed away on Boxing day 2020 from Covid-19. Steve left behind his partner and four children. He was part of the Anchorians family for six years, coaching, mentoring and supporting both players and fellow volunteers, and still a sorely missed presence at the grounds.
Our Charity Shield aims to have fun while raising as much money as possible for local causes, communities and charities, with over £23,000 being raised in the last six years - what a huge achievement!
This year, our Charity Shield will be raising money towards Prostate Cancer awareness.
This is in support of some of our members that have been, and still are, bravely battling this illness.
1 in 8 men will statistically get prostate cancer in their lifetime, with men over 50, black heritage and those with a family history most at risk. Our aim is to raise as much as possible to help fund lifesaving awareness, research and treatment; but we can only do this with your support!
On the day we will have refreshments, bucket collections and, as always, the coveted Coaches vs Parents match, with the Coaches looking to take back the shield from last year's Parent's winning team!
Join us to cheer and support, and have an all-round amazing day for a brilliant cause.
