"If girls are not allowed to play football, just like the boys can, what are we doing?"
Ian Wright hit the nail on the head during this year's Women's Euros, as our England Lionesses made history in a nail biting 2-1 win over Germany to become European Champions.
Making sure that every person has the opportunity to be able to play football has been, and will always be, one of Anchorians core ethics. We're proud to be the largest girls football club in the country, and one that will always champion the rights of women and girls to make football #HerGameToo.
Following the open letter from the Lionesses Team to the prospective Prime Ministers, we fully stand behind their call to make football more accessible to girls in school, as well as building the foundations for P.E teachers and Coaches to be able to facilitate this.
While there are several campaigns already underway, including the FA's Let Girls Play we need to make sure that the momentum for this isn't lost for our future Lionesses!
This season has been one of our most successful yet for our Girls Teams, with two teams playing FA County Cup finals, and over half a dozen teams winning or coming runner ups in their respective leagues.
We believe in fulfilling potential and creating fun, safe and inclusive spaces for girls who want to play football. Whether you're 6 or 60, there's a place at Anchorians for all.
